Dear parents/guardians,
Welcome back to another school year. My name is Kimberly Drummond. I am teaching secondary IV Applied Science and Technology (STA416) and secondary V Chemistry (CHEM 504) this year.
I will be using the Microsoft Teams platform and OneNote with my students for all of their course work. I will use the Remind app for their lab work and evaluation notifications and reminders. Please ask your child to review the content in their Microsoft Teams platform with you. You will see the course outline and their content outlined for the year. The course outline contains important information regarding content, pacing, evaluation, weightings, exams, assigned work, etc. You will also find the unit/chapter outlines and work plan to follow if they are absent from class or if we are moved to online learning. Powerpoint presentations (i.e. notes) that accompany each lesson, concise notes, solutions to assigned workbook or textbook questions, assignments and labs will also be posted in Files in their Microsoft Teams. Throughout the year I will be posting upcoming due, quiz & test dates in class on the board and using the Remind app.
It is important that the students seek help if they are stuck on a concept. I encourage students to form study/work groups with their peers, to speak to me in class and to email me if needed. At this time, the structure of extra help is unknown.
Having formatted the courses through OneNote and Microsoft Teams, I am confident that we can proceed effectively if faced with any disruptions and changes to the current in school model. We will adapt as we go. If your child misses class, please note that everything is available on their Teams platform. In the event that classes are moved online, I will connect with my students through the Remind App and their WQSB email/Office 365 accounts and continue using the Microsoft Teams platform as it is currently formatted.
Please see your child's course specific tab above for added information.
I wish every student a great year.
Sincerely,
Kimberly Drummond
